RJ has a wealth of experience, education, and training in US and international markets dealing with a wide variety of industries, owner-managed companies and high net worth individuals.
In 1978 he joined an international accounting firm now known as Deloitte. Progressing through rigorous internal, university and professional education programs, RJ earned a Canadian Chartered Accountant designation (now also known as a ‘CPA’) in 1982. With Deloitte he practiced in their Vancouver, Calgary, Dallas and Nassau Bahamas offices. During this time he was involved in audit, accounting, insolvency and management consulting engagements for clients ranging from multi-national conglomerates and international banking giants to one man businesses – and most everything in between.
In 1993 he founded the International Accounting Group in Florida to provide professional services to small and medium sized clients who had significant business dealings outside of the US or were international clients looking to open new businesses in the U.S. In 2003 International Accounting Group became IAG Global as the firm’s clients became somewhat more, but far from entirely, US based.
RJ’s education background includes a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) Degree from the University of Manitoba, Masters of Accounting courses from Florida Atlantic University, and he is qualified as an Enrolled Agent through the US Department of Treasury to represent clients before the IRS. With respect to community service, he was a Director of the Canadian America Business Alliance for many years as well as the Treasurer of Old School Square Cultural Arts Center in Delray Beach.
RJ is a dedicated runner having completed over 35 marathons and ultramarathons including six Boston’s and the JFK 50 Miler, the country’s oldest ultra.
He has been a resident of Boca Raton, Florida for 30 years and is a proud citizen of both the US and Canada.
Susan Forsythe Simms, E.A.
Tax Partner
Susan is not only an Enrolled Agent but is also a National Tax Practice Institute (NTPI) Fellow and expertly leads the IAG Global tax practice.
Enrolled Agents are federally authorized tax practitioners who have demonstrated technical expertise in tax law and are the only taxpayer representatives licensed by the United States government to practice before the Internal Revenue Service on behalf of their clients. An Enrolled Agent (also known as an “EA”) is required to complete annual continuing education training in order to stay up-to-date with the ever changing maze of IRS laws, regulations and operational methods. Susan’s NTPI Fellow designation is evidence of her significant expertise in the representation of taxpayers before the Internal Revenue Service.
Susan holds a Master of Science Degree in International Business (MSIB) from Florida Atlantic University. This graduate degree program included three months of study and business internship in Spain and two months in Brazil. She graduated first in her class with a perfect 4.0 GPA. Susan’s undergraduate study was at the University of Manitoba where she earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in languages and received the award for the Outstanding Arts Graduate of the year.
Prior to joining IAG Global, she had significant business experience including General Manager of a large chain of retail stores in The Bahamas and was a Senior Executive for the Hudson’s Bay Company in Canada. These positions included responsibilities for sales and profit, budgeting, marketing, human resources, opening new locations and international purchasing.
Susan’s many community activities included being Chairman of the Board of Directors and Chairman of Governmental Affairs, Delray Beach Chamber of Commerce.
Susan Forsythe Simms is an active sportswoman who enjoys strenuous gym workouts, hiking, running, light tackle fishing and was a nationally ranked masters runner. She holds dual US and Canadian citizenships.
